Training classes are a requirement of adopting me. (The rescue requires training classes for all dogs adopted under the age of 3.)
Good with Children?
Good with Dogs?
Good with Cats?
Yes. I've met my "foster sisters" cat and I wanted to play with it. I'd prefer a cat that won't be afraid of me.

My Story

Hello - I'm Ava... "Avalicious" - you know, like one of those rap guy's girlfriends!?  You probably already know all about me since I was featured on the GABR youcaring fundraiser site - but I'll tell you my story again.  I am 7 months old. I came into rescue because my family could not afford my medial bills anymore. They had already spent a ton of money trying to get me healthy.  I had a resistant strain of bordetella (kennel cough) and needed a trachea lavage/wash to culture the bacteria in order to find the right antibiotic.  My foster mom also worked on getting my immune system back in check.  Now, I am doing great. I gained over 15 pounds and I feel amazing.  Amazing and adorable - they kinda go hand in hand with a name like Ava!  My foster mom is constantly saying "leave it" or "no".  She must think those are my names.

As you can tell, I am a puppy, an adorable one at that.  I need to know what is going on around me, and sometimes I forget my manners. I love to go on walks with my foster mom.  You know those things that fly around in the sky, I think they are called birds, I love them. I want to play with them so badly that I chase them.  My foster mom says I am doing much better but still need to learn how to walk on the leash a little nicer.  Now that the weather is finally starting to warm up, that means W A L K time!  I am potty trained and I tell my foster family when I have to go out.  I am also a big girl now and don't have to be crated anymore at night. I have my own bed and sleep in the same room with my foster parents on the floor.  I don't know why they won't share their big comfy bed with me; maybe one day I can sneak up there.  I love shoes, socks, and underwear.  My foster mom says I am great at picking them up for you.  I don't mind being crated when they don't take me along for rides.  I bark a bit, but then I am fine and wait until they return.  My foster dad says I am a great snuggle bug.  At night he invites me to sit by him.

I do need a little work on not jumping on people. I can't help it, I love all people and dogs. I get to see my furry friends twice a week - we have puppy play dates!  I absolutely go nuts.  I'm scheduled to be spayed on May 8th - you know that "thing" they do, so you don't end up making all those puppies?  Once I am feeling better after my surgery, I will be ready to go - are you my forever home? ......... Gotta go! I see shoes.
