Hello! I'm Mavis! I came into rescue via a shelter; I ended up there as a stray. While my history is unknown, whatever happened to me then resulted in a lot of skittishness on my part. I've been in rescue for a while as my foster mom has been working with me to make me feel more comfortable. For example, being on leash outside makes me quite nervous. Meeting strangers can make me a bit nervous, too, but I warm up before long. I've had lots of opportunities to interact with children in my foster home, and I think kids are fantabulous!

If I were a house, you might call me a fixer-upper. But, I'm a dog and what I really need is a family with lots of love and patience. I'm on Prozac, which helps me to worry just a little bit less.

I'm fully housebroken and don't mind being in my crate. I'm a good sleeper and you don't have to worry about me haunting the halls at night. My foster mom reports that I've become more playful over time. I am a kisser from way back and have plenty to give. I'm picky about treats and am not always eager to learn new commands, but that's where the love/patience part comes in.

Mostly, I just wanted to be loved and understood and made to feel comfortable. I'll bet there's a family out there somewhere that's ready to do just that!

NOTE: Mavis requires a fenced yard (physical fence) and a companion dog.
